What you will do:

We are looking for a new colleague to join our team in Tanzania. Our new colleague will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly posts and reconciliations, such as petty cash, bank, supplier, and tax reconciliations, using Quick Books.
  • Manage the filing of all contracts, invoices, salary slips, and other related papers.
  • Ensure compliance and timely submission of all tax and other regulatory requirements (NSSF, PAYE, VAT, and WHT).
  • Review all field expenses, including meeting with enumerators to reconcile budget with actual expenses and generating a project expense report for each batch of field charges.
  • Process payments for any project-related expenses, including supplier payments.
  • Ensure control over some project-related expenses and boost our cost-efficiency by diversifying and enhancing our arrangements with suppliers.
  • Liaise with tax experts and external auditors to reply to queries, give documentation, and seek advice/solution from them.
  • Continuous assistance with immigration processes to aid in expat settlement, such as work permits, special passes, visas, and alien card application follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to monitor cash and bank balances and ensure sufficient amounts to meet all payment requirements.
  • Provide assistance with all administrative matters in the office, such as purchasing all office supplies, managing office equipment, and maintaining office keys.
  • Oversee support staff, such as office cleaners.
  • Help with logistics for enumerator training, workshops, and meetings (booking rooms, catering, renting furniture, organizing transportation, etc.).
  • Assist with the management of Petty Cash in the office.
  • Perform additional tasks/duties as specified.

What you will bring:

  • BA Degree in Business Management, Economics, Accounting, or Related Fields
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication abilities.
  • Excellent understanding of office administration, visa and work permit procedures, accounting, and bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Must be a Tanzanian national.

The starting compensation for this position is TZS 1,409,524 gross per month. The actual compensation grade will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and performance during interviews. Salaries are aligned with the pay matrix. There is plenty of room for advancement, both in terms of money and position. Promotions at Laterite are considered during our biannual performance evaluation.
